Five years for non-sterile products. Three years for sterile products.
Shelf Life:
Non-Sterile - Berkshire’s non-sterile products do not carry a shelf life. However, if it is desired to assign a shelf life to non-sterile products, Berkshire recommends a five year shelf life from the date of manufacture.
Sterile - A three-year shelf life has been identified for Berkshire’s dry and pre-saturated sterile wipers. The expiration date appears on the case label and on each individual pack either on the pack label or embossed in the seal and also identified on the Certificate of Sterility. The expiration date will be three years from the date of manufacture and be in the format mm/yyyy. It is Berkshire’s policy that we will only ship sterile product with at least six months shelf-life remaining.
Sterile Wipes Storage:
Keep product package closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Avoid heat, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. Avoid prolonged exposure to UV light –suggest that product be stored inside the carton until ready to use or on shelving away from direct sunlight.
Certificates of Sterility can also be downloaded by product and lot number from our website, 24/7. The PDF download is seamless and quick, no additional email forms need to be submitted. Each Certificate has the lot number for traceability, the date of manufacture, the expiration date, the minimum and maximum specified dose, and the minimum and maximum delivered dose expressed in kGY, Cobalt 60 gamma radiation.
Even with a known shelf life it is highly recommended that before use, the primary packaging is inspected to ensure there are no holes or scratches in the package material and that the seals are intact or other damage that would compromise the sterility of the cleanroom wipes.
